SUPERVISOR OF TRACK
Grade 28
DUTIES: Supervises all activities associated
with the performance of inspection, maintenance and construction of mainline
track, yard track, and special work for approximately 80 track miles of
operating transit rail for up to FRA class 4 standards. Coordinates work
activities with Service Quality Management and Service Management to minimize
service disruption and maximize work efforts. Interacts and works with other
Power & Way Units, Rail District Sections and other GCRTA Divisions to
ensure all GCRTA goals are accomplished and a high standard of service is
delivered to our customers. Performs follow up inspections/audits of Track Unit
work to ensure quality of work, appropriate work efforts are performed, and
compliance with regulatory requirements are met. Plans, orders and ensures
availability of sufficient material to perform routine maintenance, emergency
repairs and seasonal project work. Responds to Rail District emergencies such
as severe weather conditions, track structure failure and/or
accidents/incidents to supervise and coordinate repairs and the return to
service. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess a high
school diploma or equivalency. An advanced degree or some form of continued
higher education from either an accredited university/college or technical
school is desirable. Applicant must have at least seven to ten years experience
in a freight, commuter or passenger railroad and/or transit track maintenance,
inspection or construction environment, including at least 5 years of
supervisory experience in the maintenance and construction of track and special
work. Ability to respond to emergencies in a 24 hour / 7 day a week environment
is required. Applicants must have and exhibit experience and knowledge
including a through knowledge of FRA Track Safety Standards for Classes 1- 4,
AREMA Track Standards, APTA Track Standards, the ability to read track drawings
and construction prints. Applicants
must be able to demonstrate an ability to supervise and be able to coordinate
work crews and equipment in a multi tasked 24/7 environment. Applicants must
possess sufficient basic computer skills and be able to utilize the Authority’s
Ultramain scheduling and inventory control program. OTHER APPLICABLE INFORMATION: The
performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day and night,
any day and night of the week. This position is a salary non-bargaining
position. This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug and
