Q How does GCRTA's Recruiting Process Work? GCRTA recruits candidates at Ohio colleges and universities. Students are encouraged to apply for interviews through their Career Placement office, or by sending their resume directly to jobs@gcrta.org. If you do not find your school listed on this page, you are welcome to apply directly to the Management Development Program job announcement posted on our website under Current Job Openings. Please note, we are only accepting applications when the Management Development Program position is posted. Q How many hours can I expect to work on a Leadership Program? Program members work at least 40 hours per week. Additional time commitments may be required depending on the job assignment. Q Can I do a cross-functional or cross-business rotation? The GCRTA Management Development Program (MDP) is designed to develop cross-business, cross-functional expertise through rotational positions. You will be provided with a variety of work experiences throughout the 26-month program commitment. You will rotate through four challenging six-month rotations across GCRTA divisional areas: Operations, Human Resources, Management & Budget, and Marketing Communications. Q Will GCRTA pay for relocation for program members? Are moving expenses reimbursed? If relocation is required, GCRTA will not be able to pay relocation expenses. However, assistance will be provided with identifying house and apartment hunting resources. Q What type of career path can I expect after completing a GCRTA Management Development Program? GCRTA's Management Development Program prepares program members for positions with a significant level of responsibility and challenging rotational assignments. We make a commitment to placing program members who successfully complete the 26-month program into full-time managerial/leader opportunities with GCRTA. Q How much is the starting salary for Program Members? What is the raise schedule? GCRTA sets its salaries at a competitive level among companies competing for undergraduate business, human resources, operations, and transportation majors. Program members may be eligible for merit increases based on an individual performance evaluation. Q What benefits does GCRTA offer? GCRTA offers a variety of competitive benefits, including healthcare insurance, paid-time off, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, retirement, and free use of public transit. Program members are formally evaluated by their assignment managers. Members are evaluated based on completion of job requirements as well as basic skills and competencies (e.g., technical, leadership, work ethic, interpersonal, etc.). Members are also given a significant amount of informal feedback and coaching on a regular basis from their managers and other mentors. Q Will GCRTA support me if I want to pursue a Graduate Degree, or want to pursue a higher educational degree? GCRTA has a generous tuition reimbursement program that offers up to $2,500 per year of reimbursement in pursuit of advanced level degrees and certifications. Additionally, continuous training and seminars (onsite, offsite) will be provided to program members during and after the Management Development Program. |
