This month, RTA Trustees will award contracts totaling more than $20 million to vendors who will install a new, state-of-the-art fare collection system. The decision affects every person who uses RTA. Presentation

Service to Steelyard Commons begins Jan. 28
The #807 Tremont Community Circulator begins service Jan. 28 to the much-awaited Steelyard Commons shopping area. The Circulator operates from 6 a.m. -7 p.m. weekdays , and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. weekends. It connects to the Red Line at the West 25th Street Rapid Station. The first store opens Feb. 1, with Wal-Mart set to open this fall. Map & timetable

Ridership up nationally, APTA reports
Americans took 7.8 billion trips on transit in the first nine months of 2006, a 3 percent increase. This occured even as gas prices declined.
