Sept. 16: Ride RTA for baseball, Browns and Oktoberfest beer

Sep 14, 2016

CLEVELAND -- Downtown Cleveland is a great mix of baseball, the Browns and Oktoberfest beer on Friday-Sunday, Sept 16-18, and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is the easiest way to enjoy all three.

  • From Friday through Sunday, Public Square welcomes the Downtown Oktoberfest. Hours are noon-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday

  • On Friday and Saturday, the Cleveland Indians host the Detroit Tigers at 7:10 p.m. and again on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. at Progessive Field.

Make your commute as easy as possible.

  • To reach any event Downtown, park for free, buy a $5 round-trip fare card or a $5.50 All-Day Pass, and ride any Rapid to the Tower City Station.  An All-Day Pass is valid until 3 a.m. the next day.
  • If you ride the Green Line to evening Indians games, please note, that due to a recent RTA service change, the Green Line runs only until 9 p.m. You may want to use the Blue Line (or other RTA alternative) to ride to the Indians' evening games. The Blue Line has ample capacity and runs until midnight. Check the new timetables for both routes. For future evening Browns games, the Green Line will run until midnight.
  • Once at Tower City, it's a short walk to Public Square for the Oktoberfest, or a short walk to Progressive Field. Use the Walkway, which is near the food court on the main level at Tower City.
  • On Sunday, to see the Browns play at FirstEnergy Stadium, transfer to the Waterfront Line, exit at the West Third Street Station, and you're there.
  • RTA staff will be on hand at Brookpark, Puritas, West Park and West 3rd Stations to assist Browns fans. Please have cash on hand to purchase the special $5 round-trip fare card.
