Two public meetings set

CLEVELAND – The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has scheduled two public meetings to bring residents up-to-date on the Blue Line Extension Alternative Analysis Study.

RTA staff will answer questions and collect feedback. Both meetings last from 6 - 8 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Building, 3450 Lee Road, Shaker Heights, just south of the Lee Road station on the Blue Line.
  • Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, Room 230, Liberal Arts Building (ELA230), Cuyahoga Community College Eastern Campus, 4250 Richmond Road, Highland Hills. The campus is served by #15 bus line, which allows you to transfer to any Rapid line at the East 34th Street and the East 55th Street Stations. The campus is also served by the #94 bus line, which allows you to transfer to the Green Line Rapid at the Green Road station. If you drive, parking lots B-2 and B-1 are closest to the meeting site.
RTA is working with local communities to evaluate potential transit improvements in Southeastern Cuyahoga County, including a possible extension of the Blue Line.

The study will meet Federal Transit Administration requirements for selecting a Locally Preferred Alternative, a prerequisite for qualifying for New Starts funding.

At these meetings, RTA will describe the alternative transit improvements that were considered and how they were evaluated. Alternative routes and modes, including light rail, bus rapid transit and conventional bus, will be presented, and a Locally Preferred Alternative will be proposed.

Public comments will be accepted through Feb. 15, 2012 at bluelineextension@pbworld.com.
