The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) offers several kinds of community outreach to stress safety, awareness of public transit, and how-to-ride information.
Need a speaker for your group or community meeting? Each month, RTA staff speaks to senior citizen groups, schools and PTA groups, and business organizations. Some topics include:
- Safety on public transit
- How to ride RTA
- The status of major RTA projects, and
- How to apply for Paratransit certification.
One of RTA’s most popular vehicles is its colorful Community Bus, which can be seen regularly at schools, recreation centers, Browns games, Indians games and community events.
The bus includes a plasma TV, with a video on how to ride and how to stay safe. Staff members give a presentation after the video is shown. The bus is especially popular with school-age children.
Participating in community events
If you are sponsoring a community festival, or a health and information fair, RTA would like to be a vendor. We have valuable information to share with your patrons. Please keep us in mind when you plan your event.
To arrange for community outreach, contact Community Engagement Supervisor Erica Tucker, 216-356-3061. Some dates fill up quickly, so please contact RTA as soon as possible. We’ll need to know the exact day and time, the address of the event, the expected audience, and if there is a specific topic you want covered.
