Masks Remain Required While Riding GCRTA

Despite the statewide mask mandate being lifted on June 2nd, GCRTA still requires all passengers aboard buses, trains, or at stations to wear a mask.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) along with the U.S. Department of Transportation are requiring masks to be worn on all forms of public transportation, in addition to hubs such as airports and stations.

Disposal of Non-Operational Rail Transit Cars: Photos and Video

The train car known as HRV 339 picked up its first passenger on August 20, 1985. HRV 339 carried millions of riders over its 36 years in service, until mechanical and structural problems landed it on the list of 18 old trains to be decommissioned.

Installation of Barriers Continue

Installation of barriers continue on buses. Previously, GCRTA had been using plastic curtains to protect operators and riders.

“The plastic curtain was always intended as a quick and temporary protective measure,” Jeffrey Adams, Central Equipment Manager, says.

ADA Office Downtown Reopening to the Public April 5th

The ADA Office will be returning to normal business hours on Monday, April 5th.

The office has been closed to the public since November 25th due to state and local health advisories relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Take RTA to your Vaccination Appointments

For many Ohioans COVID-19 has been crippling. For the past year, we have all been quarantining, masking up and social distancing. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel! With three vaccinations now available, GCRTA wants to help get you to your appointment. To check your eligibility and register for your shot, visit the Ohio Department of Health website.

Integrated Communications Center Answers the Call from Frontline Operators

At any given moment there are 300-400 buses and 13 or more rail cars in the field for Greater Cleveland RTA and hundreds of operators serving thousands of riders in sprawling Cuyahoga County. 

Things can happen out there, and when they do the first call often goes to the Integrated Communications Center (ICC) at the Main Office in downtown Cleveland.

“We’re the first ones our operators call when they have a problem,” Tony Richardson, the  Acting Director of Service Quality, tells us.

RTA Congratulates Erica Tucker on Board Appointment for MAHO

Erica Tucker, GCRTA's Community Engagement Supervisor, was elected as a Board of Director member for MAHO (Maximum Accessible Housing of Ohio) in December of 2020 and began her three-year term this January.  Erica was recommended by former member of MAHO, Donna Prease, who also serves on GCRTA's Citizens Advisory Council.

MAHO advances accessibility, independence, and inclusion in homes and communities.

Ryobi Electrostatic Sprayers Make GCRTA Transit Safer

Disinfecting hundreds of buses and dozens of facilities is a daunting task, especially in the midst of a pandemic. That’s why Greater Cleveland RTA continues to make investments in the latest technology to ensure the safety of riders and staff.

In October of 2020, seven Ryobi Electrostatic Sprayers were purchased by GCRTA.
