November 1, 2011 – Effective Date of Fines & Fees for all Fare Violations

Pay Adult Administrative Fee

Pay Juvenile Violation Fare

Adult Proof of Payment Violators

  • Charged a $25 administrative fee
    • If paid within 72 business hours, no criminal citation filed
    • If not paid in 72 business hours, citation referred to court for criminal prosecution
  • Fee must be paid to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA)
    • In person at RTA’s Customer Service Center in Tower City (7:00am - 6:00pm) by cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express; or by cashier’s check or money order, payable to RTA. No personal checks.
    • Online at violations.shoprta.com by MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express.
  • If unpaid within 72 business hours, citations will be forwarded to the appropriate Clerk of Courts for processing.
  • If adult receives more than one violation within 24 months, the administrative fee will not be offered in lieu of a criminal citation

Juvenile Proof of Payment Violators

  • First offense, juvenile receives a warning
    • Written, a copy given to juvenile and sent to parent or guardian at home
  • Second and subsequent offense(s), a fee of $25 if received within 30 days
  • Fee must be paid to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA)
    • In person at RTA’s Customer Service Center in Tower City (7:00am - 6:00pm) by cash, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express; or by cashier’s check or money order, payable to RTA. No personal checks.
    • Online at violations.shoprta.com by MasterCard, Visa, Discover or American Express.
    • Via U.S. Mail to:
      P.O. Box 6566
      Cleveland, OH 44101-1566
      Must be received within 30 days of violation date. Do not mail cash.
  • If paid within 30 days, no further action is taken
  • If unpaid within 30 days, the record will be forwarded to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office, Juvenile Division, for referral to the county’s Community Diversion program.
