5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7: RTA Red Line service update

CLEVELAND -- Here is the current status of Red LIne rail service for the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA).

Full service has been restored. At 3 a.m. today, Red Line trains began service.

Because of signal damage, customers can expect delays between Cedar-University and the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere.

Background

Officials said that at 2:45 p.m. Oct. 2, a CEI power line fell and hit an RTA catenary wire over the Red Line tracks, near the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere in East Cleveland.

The current carried into the rail station's electrical room, where equipment was damaged.

There were no injuries.
