The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) announced today that all buses operating on the #55 Line will return to GCRTA’s official branding, replacing the Cleveland State University (CSU) logo. The change follows the natural expiration of the sponsorship agreement.
Starting in January 2026, passengers will begin to see the change on the #55 Line buses. The new buses will feature the RTA logo and the transit authority's official colors, which are the same as the buses used on all other routes across the system.
"We look forward to providing a seamless and unified experience for our riders. We appreciate the support Cleveland State University provided during the sponsorship period, and we are preparing to roll out 40 new 40-foot Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses in our brand identity,” said GCRTA Marketing Director, Sharon Jenkins.
Though the sponsorship has concluded, the collaborative relationship with CSU will continue in a vareity of other ways.
The #55 Line transition will transition gradually throughout the month of January as the new buses become ready for service. Additional changes taking place during the year include the changeover of bus shelters, signs, and transit centers along the #55 route to GCRTA official branding. These changes are not expected to cause any disruption to service.
