Free COVID-19 Vaccinations and Booster Shots

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) and Care Alliance Health Center (CAHC) are partnering to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots to the public at Shaw High School on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

The GCRTA Community Immunity Bus will be parked in the school’s parking lot at 15320 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, OH. 44112 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. CAHC medical staff will provide the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to adults and children, ages 12 and up, at no charge while aboard the GCRTA Community Immunity Bus. Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive the vaccine, and the parent or legal guardian of the child must complete and sign a consent form prior to the child being vaccinated.

In addition to the vaccinations, the Care Alliance medical staff will be available to help people enroll in health insurance. Care Alliance’s medical team will also be available to provide blood pressure and glucose screenings.

“Care Alliance Health Center is excited to increase Cleveland’s access to COVID-19 vaccinations by partnering with GCRTA,” said Dr. Claude L. Jones, DO, Care Alliance Health Center President, and CEO. “Health disparities are pervasive throughout Cleveland and since 1993, Care Alliance has provided high-quality and affordable care to Cleveland’s residents. Partnerships like this help Care Alliance expand access to primary care services by bringing our programs directly to the community,” added Dr. Jones.

“The value of this partnership is health and human service underscored by public transit as a means to bolster health education,” said GCRTA General Manager, Chief Executive Officer India Birdsong. “We’ve recognized the benefit of public service partnerships such as this and appreciate the energy that Care Alliance has brought to this effort — it has been a true labor of sheer compassion and protection for the communities we both serve every day,” stated Birdsong.

The RTA Community Immunity Bus is made possible by ODOT funding in effort to make the Covid-19 vaccine accessible to multiple communities in the greater Cleveland area.
