April 19: Help RTA Fill the Bus at TV-3 for Harvest for Hunger

Apr 17, 2013

CLEVELAND -- On Friday, April 19, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will team up with WKYC TV-3 and Charter One to 'Fill the Bus' with food and cash for Harvest for Hunger.

Donations of food items and cash will be accepted at WKYC studios, 1333 Lakeside Ave., from 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Watch Channel 3 all morning long and hear from RTA & the Cleveland Foodbank on their efforts to help those in need in Northeast Ohio.

This is RTA's Third Annual Fill The Bus event, and the second year that Charter One volunteers will assist in the food collection. Follow the generosity of our community on twitter @gcrta #fillthebus

Harvest for Hunger has a goal of providing 16 million meals this year and RTA wants to help. The 'Fill the Bus' program helps add to the food and cash donations at the Cleveland Foodbank, by collecting in one convenient location, then delivering to the Foodbank.

The super-six most-needed food items are:

  • tuna fish
  • peanut butter
  • canned vegetables
  • canned soup
  • beef stew and cereal.

Cash is always accepted, as the Cleveland Foodbank can create four healthy meals from just $1.

Cash donations are accepted on all RTA trolleys for the rest of April. To donate by credit card, log on to: www.clevelandfoodbank.org/rideRTA.
