Dec. 15: RTA extends 81 evening & weekend service to two complexes

CLEVELAND -- RTA is extending service on the 81 to include two housing complexes on weekday evenings and weekends.

CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is extending the 81 bus service to include two housing complexes on weekday evenings and weekends.

Current 81 service

  • Serves Tremont 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
  • Weekdays, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., serves two CMHA housing complexes, Lakeview Tower and Tremont Point.  No bus service is provided to these facilities on weekends.

Expanded 81 service after Dec. 15

In response to request for additional service from residents, RTA will begin a one-year pilot program to:

  • Extend the weekday bus service for three hours in the evening, providing these two complexes service from approximately 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Begin Saturday and Sunday bus service to these complexes from approximately 7 .m.-10 p.m.

This expanded service begins Dec.15, 2013. It will be evaluated after one year of operation to determine utilization and effectiveness.
