GCRTA Awarded $2.3 Million To Purchase New Buses

The grant funds will specifically go towards the replacement of six model year 2014 diesel powered buses with six new model year 2026 CNG buses.

Cleveland OH – On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded approximately $2.3 million in grant funds from the Diesel Emission Reduction Grant (DERG) program to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) for the purchase of new environmentally friendly compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.

The grant funds will specifically go towards the replacement of six model year 2014 diesel powered buses with six new model year 2026 CNG buses.
