Happy 5th birthday to RTA's HealthLine

CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) wishes a warm happy birthday to its internationally-recognized Bus Rapid Transit service, the HealthLine.

After designing the HealthLine and investing $200 million in the project and collaborating with many community partners, RTA built a first-class service running along Euclid Avenue, in Cleveland and East Cleveland.

Best in North America

The HealthLine is now called the 'Best' Bus Rapid Transit in North America by the Institute for Tranpsortation & Development Policy (ITDP), for offering the best return on investment (ROI) for transit development in the country.

An ITDP study states that the HealthLine delivered more than $5.8 billion in economic development in and around the Euclid Corridor: a staggering $114.54 gained for every dollar spent on creating and launching the HealthLine.

Ridership

Ridership is booming as the line celebrates five years; it has carried more than 21.2 million riders since opening, with annual ridership nearing five million rides, a 60 percent increase over the previous # 6 bus line, which the HealthLine replaced in 2008.
