Honoring and Recognizing GCRTA’S Excellent Workforce

Mar 18, 2026

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) recognizes and honors its excellent workforce today on Transit Employee Appreciation Day.

GCRTA transit workers play a critical role in keeping our communities moving. They operate buses, trains, paratransit vehicles, and trolleys that help our community members get where they need to go in a safe, affordable, and timely manner.

“Transit employees are responsible for providing a critical service to our community—making it possible for people to get to jobs, schools, childcare, grocery stores, doctors’ visits, sporting events, and everywhere in between,” said GCRTA Board President, Paul A. Koomar. “I appreciate everything they do to keep the greater Cleveland area moving.”

"We are fortunate to have some of the very best transit workers in our state keeping GCRTA moving forward," said GCRTA General Manager & CEO India L. Birdsong Terry. "Around the clock and in all kinds of weather, our transit workers operate complex routing schedules, repair heavy duty vehicles, provide stellar customer service and ensure smooth operations here at GCRTA. I am continually appreciative of their hard work and dedication to our community."

If you see a GCRTA employee while you’re traveling around the system today, please take a moment to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to GCRTA transit operators, ambassadors, custodial and maintenance crews, security and administrative personnel, and anyone else you notice that helps keep our systems going.
