Wm. Harry Alexander served on the RTA Board of Trustees from 1975-1987 and as board president from 1979-1984. Born on Nov 10, 1916, Alexander was a Washington D.C. native who came to Cleveland in 1935 to work in the circulation department of the Call and Post. He is said to have delivered papers to distributors by streetcar. By 1979, he became the business manager of Ohio’s leading minority newspaper. Under Alexander's presidency from 1981-1988, the Call and Post expanded to Dayton, Youngstown, Warren and Akron. The 12-year RTA Board member, Mr. Alexander was an appointee of the City of Cleveland and one of the original members of the board when RTA was formed in 1975. Mr. Alexander passed away in 1988.
