RTA Statement Regarding Investigation of Baby Doe

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) police continue their investigation into the identity of the woman claiming to be the mother of Baby Doe who was found on July 17 near East 105 and Superior. A call from someone in the neighborhood reporting the unusual behavior of a man holding the baby at a bus stop prompted RTA to investigate.

A woman who appeared on the scene claimed to be the baby's mother, but the woman would not provide any identification. Yesterday, RTA released photos of the woman, seeking the community's assistance in providing information related to her identity.

Today, Solon police encountered the woman in the photograph, but she still remains unwilling to provide any identification.  The county and RTA will continue to seek and verify her identity. No additional details are available at this time, as this remains an on-going investigation.

The baby remains safe with the Department of Children and Family Services.

Any help that you can provide in identifying this woman, please contact RTA Transit Police at 216-566-5163 or Cuyahoga County Child Hotline at 216-696-5437.
