U-Pass Program Agreement Finalized by GCRTA and CSU

Aug 14, 2025

Today, Cleveland State University (CSU) and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) finalized an agreement to continue the U-Pass program through Spring Semester 2026.

Under the current agreement, CSU students who wish to receive U-Pass stickers will be assessed the negotiated fee of $57.50 per student per semester, by CSU.  For remaining eligible students who do not pick up U-Pass stickers, CSU will cover that cost to remain in compliance with GCRTA’s U-Pass program requirements.

It is important to note that CSU’s use of the term, “opt-in” does not coincide with GCRTA’s U-Pass program definition, nor is listed as such in the signed agreement.  Eligibility criteria, however, are defined within the agreement.  The structure of GCRTA’s U-Pass Program has not changed and is not an opt-in program.

This agreement provides for an affordable mobility option for eligible students as defined by CSU.
