Take the Pillar Study Surveys
As we continue to work on our landmark Pillar Studies, we ask that you contribute your opinions by taking two online surveys addressing our system redesign and fare equity studies. We invite as much participation as possible to ensure we’re acting in line with the wants and needs of our region. T We thank you in advance for your answers!
Also as part of our ongoing studies, our final round of community meetings will extend into October. These sessions have been an invaluable source of input as we work to accommodate those we serve. We hope you’ll join us on one of the following dates:

Before attending the meetings, we suggest you watch the presentation Jarrett Walker + Associates gave back in July.
Additionally, LTK Engineering Services shared an interim report on the fare equity study with an early draft of recommendations. A number of approaches and enhancements have been suggested, but no final decisions have been made, so your opinions will be very helpful.
RTA is Now Hiring Mechanics and Drivers
Your new career could be right around the corner—literally. RTA is now hiring mechanics and vehicle operators. When you join our team, you’ll enjoy benefits like competitive wages, health insurance, and pensions. Plus, you’ll come to work each day knowing that you play a vital role in connecting people with all the education, healthcare, employment, and social life that our city has to offer.
These positions are open to everyone; RTA will provide training so you can obtain both the certifications you need and the skills you’ll use to thrive in this environment.
RTA is a Safe Place
RTA is proud to designate each of its vehicles as a Safe Place. As part of a national program, Safe Places are public locations where young people in crisis situations can get help immediately. Safe Place signs are displayed on all RTA buses and trains.
Any youth (age 17 and younger) can go to a Safe Place in any type of emergency situation. The services offered are free for both them and their families.
How to Seek Help
Just tell the bus or train operator that you’re there because of the Safe Place sign. They will notify a Road Supervisor or Transit Police Officer, who will meet the bus or train at a nearby location, usually within 15 – 20 minutes.
They will either transport you to a Safe Place shelter partner or have a Safe Place volunteer come to meet with you. RTA shelter partners have counselors who care and want to help.
Going to the shelter is voluntary; once you go, no one will force you to stay. Parents have to be notified, but counselors are there to help you work things out.

Sustainable Cleveland Summit 2019
Since 2009 the Sustainable Cleveland initiative works to develop a better Cleveland region through collaborations resulting in a greener, cleaner place to live, work and play. The 2019 summit is being held on October 16 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Reservations are required.
This year, new CEO and General Manager, India Birdsong, will join fellow respected professionals as a keynote speaker. Sustainable Cleveland focuses on celebrating progress and planning for sustainability in the future.
Ride RTA to Playhouse Square
Playhouse Square has several marquee names heading to its stages throughout the month, ranging from comedian Jerry Seinfeld (October 11), to author David Sedaris (October 19), and singer Trisha Yearwood (October 27). You can also catch the shows Summer: The Donna Summer Musical (October 8 – 27) and The Music Man (October 9 – November 10).
You can fully enjoy the theater while avoiding all the drama of parking.
Simply take RTA’s HealthLine or C-Line Trolley, both of which have stops in Playhouse Square. The HealthLine offers 24/7 service and drives in a dedicated bus lane, which means your trip will be as quick as it is convenient. Meanwhile, the C-Line Trolley’s route runs through several of the city’s districts, so you can enjoy dinner almost anywhere downtown and still make it to your show. Bonus: it’s free! Both options are definitely worthy of a standing ovation.
Root for the Home Teams With RTA
October is a huge month for the home teams, as you can catch the Cavs, Monsters, and Browns in action.
The Cleveland Monsters’ home opener is Friday, October 11, but you can also catch them at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on October 12, 25, and 26. The Cavs’ season home opener is Saturday, October 26.
To visit the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, park at one of our many free, secure lots and take any Rapid line to the Tower City Station. Then take a brief stroll through the Walkway, and you’ll find yourself right in the heart of it all. Don’t worry if the game goes into overtime, RTA guarantees a ride home for 60 minutes after the game concludes.
A little closer to the lake, the Browns host a game at FirstEnergy Stadium on October 13. Hightail it to your tailgate by riding the Waterfront Line from Tower City and exiting at the W. 3rd St. Station.
No matter the sport, we’re always rooting for Cleveland!
See the Renovated Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
Check out our beautiful, newly remodeled arena while also enjoying live performances from Carrie Underwood (October 16) and Celine Dion (October 18) when their respective tours stop at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Or enjoy limited time engagements like the Jurassic World Live Tour (October 3 – 6) and WWE Monday Night Raw (October 21).
And remember that you can easily ride RTA right to the action. Just park for free at one of our secure lots, take any Rapid line to Tower City, and stroll through the convenient Walkway.
