WHAT:

RTA invites members of the media to attend a special event unveiling two newly re-branded HealthLine Stations near the museums in University Circle.

Colorful artwork and depictions of area museums are included in the new designs that embellish the stations. RTA is branding the new stations as "Museum Stops," so customers may more easily identify the HealthLine stops closest to the museums.

WHERE:

The new Museum Stops are located on Euclid Avenue at Stearns Road and Stokes Boulevard.
The event will be held at the Stokes HealthLine Station, which is the westbound stop, on the north side of Euclid Avenue.

WHEN:

1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017

WHO:

Joe Calabrese, RTA CEO and General Manager, with representatives from University Circle Inc. and area museums

WHY:

Every weekday, RTA provides 266 trips on the HealthLine to and from the Museum Stops.

The HealthLine carries nearly 4 million people a year, and annual ridership has increased about 60 percent since its opening in 2008. Named the "Best Bus Rapid Transit in North America," the HealthLine is recognized for having the best return on investment for a transit project in the country.

"The HealthLine delivered more than $6.3 billion in economic development along Euclid Avenue since it began operation," said Joe Calabrese, RTA CEO and General Manager. "The HealthLine connects the two largest regional employment areas -- Downtown and University Circle."

"And with travel and tourism on the rise, we know that the HealthLine connects visitors to the University Circle area with greater ease and frequency. Demand for service on the HealthLine continues to grow. With five-minute frequency during peak travel periods, the HealthLine operates 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week," he said.
