Ohio’s Largest Transit Authority Celebrates 50 Years of Service to Cleveland
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is excited to announce the hosting of a special 50th Anniversary “Ride Through Time” event at their Waterfront Line Settlers Landing station on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1:00-5:00pm. All are welcome to join us in having some fun celebrating five decades of providing reliable transportation services to Cleveland and its surrounding suburbs.
Some of the planned activities include:
• Welcoming remarks from GCRTA General Manager and CEO India L. Birdsong Terry, and GCRTA Board President Paul A. Koomar
• Touch-a-Truck display consisting of GCRTA buses, service vehicles and Transit Police vehicles, along with Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) vehicles
• Food trucks and music
• Cleveland Public Library history display and book giveaway
• Scavenger Hunt
• Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) Station Open House and displays
• Veterans Memorial Bridge Lower-Level Open House
All Waterfront Line stations will be served according to the schedule.
Since its incorporation in 1974, GCRTA has grown into a vital network that serves thousands of riders daily while continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of the residents of Cuyahoga County.
