Cleveland, OH -- The Solar Eclipse and Cleveland Guardians Home Opener are set for Monday, April 8, 2024, and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) offers an affordable, accessible, and direct transportation option for this special double-header event.

For $5, you can take GCRTA all-day and enjoy these memorable events. Let us do the driving for you. The Solar Eclipse and Guardians Home Opener are expected to draw thousands of people downtown, and GCRTA is preparing with extra capacity on the rail service to ensure a safe and reliable experience for everyone.

With GCRTA you’ll avoid downtown traffic, expensive parking fees, construction zones, and long walks to your special event location.

Some helpful tips to remember:

  • One-way fares ($2.50) or All-day passes ($5.00) are available on the Transit App with EZfare or at station Ticket Vending Machines.
    • NOTE: When purchasing on EZfare, please make sure you select RTA.
  • Ride the train to the Tower City Station and take the Walkway to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. From there, it’s a short walk outside to Progressive Field. The Walkway will open four hours prior to the home opener game.
  • Take the Waterfront Line to the W. 3rd St. or North Coast (E.9th St.) Stations to daytime events taking place at the Great Lakes Science Center and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
  • Ride the HealthLine down Euclid Avenue to Public Square. Then make your way to Progressive Field, or lakefront area attractions.
  • Plan ahead & leave early. Large crowds are expected so give yourself plenty of time to arrive safely.
  • When observing the Eclipse, always look through safe solar viewing glasses, “eclipse glasses,” or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times.

Waterfront Line rail service will be provided on April 6, 7, & 8, 2024, to take riders to all of the daytime solar eclipse events occurring at the Great Lakes Science Center and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Please visit www.riderta.com to plan your trip or for details on routes and scheduled departure times and check the RTA Transit App for real-time arrivals.  If you haven’t already, downloading the Transit App is easy, just go to www.transitapp.com and download to your Apple or Android device.

Note: The solar eclipse totality begins at 3:13 p.m., and the Guardians home opener first pitch is scheduled at 5:10 p.m.
