CLEVELAND – Here are highlights of today’s
meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit
Authority (RTA).
Board
members Dennis
M. Clough and Valarie J.
McCall were sworn in for new three-year terms. Clough is Mayor of
Westlake and an appointee of the Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Manager’s
Association. McCall, Chief of Government Affairs for Mayor Frank Jackson,
is an appointee of the City of Cleveland.
Approved
an amendment to RTA’s Energy Risk Management
Program, and extended the maximum fuel hedging time period
from 24 to 36 months. Staff has already hedged 86.6 percent of RTA’s 2010
fuel requirement, and 23.5 percent of the 2011 requirement.
Approved
a lease agreement of up to five years with Josef Askie
to operate a restaurant inside the Windermere Rapid
Station in East Cleveland. The space is 1,100 square feet.
Learned
that ridership on the HealthLine
was up 46.9 percent in April, or 106,800 more rides.
Met
in executive session to discuss the 2008 external audit.
Held
a working session with staff to discuss a projected deficit in the 2009
budget. If no action is taken, and if no additional funds are provided by
outside agencies, RTA will finish 2009 with an $8.8 million deficit. A
number of options were discussed; no action was taken.
