CLEVELAND – The Board of Trustees of the Greater Cleveland
Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will meet at 9 am. on Tuesday, July 28, at
RTA's Main Office, 1240
W. Sixth St. to consider resolutions, including:
2009-64: Approve a $6.4 million
contract with the Infinity
Construction Co. of Warrensville Heights to build the Stephanie Tubbs
Jones Transit Center at Cleveland State University. A ground-breaking
ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Sept. 10, the birthday of the former
Congresswoman. The site is on Prospect
Avenue, between East 21 and 22 streets. The center will include a bus
waiting building, a landscaped plaza for pedestrians, loading platforms
for 16 buses, and public art. About 25 percent of the work will be done by
DBE firms. More than 87 percent of the work is being paid for with federal
funds, including stimulus money from the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
2009-63: Approve a $138,000 contract
with Michael Murphy to design, build and install public art at the Stephanie
Tubbs Jones Transit Center. 100 percent of the project will be paid
for with federal funds, including stimulus money from the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The artwork was selected
after a competitive process.
2009-61: Exercise an option to an
existing contract, and purchase six 45-foot commuter coaches from Motor Coach Industries (MCI), for
$3.38 million, increasing the total contract to $6.65 million. These will
replace six vehicles from 1997 that have exceeded their useful life. Each
MCI bus costs $530,430. About 80 percent of the total cost will be paid
with federal funds. The buses are mostly used for RTA Park-n-Ride service.
2009-55: Purchase 50 new Paratransit
vehicles from Myers Equipment Corp.,
with an option to purchase up to 80 additional vehicles within five years,
at a total price not to exceed $3.5 million. These will replace vehicles
that have exceeded their normal life. Each vehicle costs $70,000. Funds
will come various federal grants, including stimulus money from the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. RTA Paratransit
vehicles will cover more than 3 million miles this year.
2009-56: Approve a contract for
$367,000 for DRS Enterprises Inc. of Warrensville Heights to rebuild the
Lakewood West End Bus Loop, 18856
Detroit Ave. About 80 percent of the work will be paid with federal
funds, and 25 percent of the work will be done by DBE firms. The loop
serves routes #26,
#55 and #55F. DRS will build
a new facility, including bus waiting structure, pavement, sidewalks,
landscaping, fencing, drive aprons, lights and signage.
2009-59: Establish an overall annual
goal of 20 percent for participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises
(DBEs) in Federal Fiscal Year 2010, which begins Oct. 1, 2009.
2009-60: Adopt the 2010
tax budget, an estimate of anticipated revenues.
