RTA breaks ground on new East 55th Street Station

CLEVELAND – Community leaders will join with the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, to break ground for a new $8.5 million Rapid Transit station on East 55th Street at the east end of I-490.

The leaders include Mayor Frank Jackson and Jolene Molitoris, Director of the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Also speaking are several City Council members and Joe Calabrese, RTA CEO and General Manager.

About 87 percent of the work is being paid with federal funds, including stimulus money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
