Ingenuity Festival and Tall Ships

RTA is your ticket to the biggest weekend of summer

CLEVELANDThousands of visitors will be downtown this weekend for the Ingenuity Festival and the Tall Ships at the North Coast Harbor. For convenience, affordability and to help ease traffic congestion, promoters of both events agree: take RTA.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has scheduled extra free trolley service on East Ninth Street from noon- 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16.

“Our trolleys are the hit of the city this summer, ” says Joe Calabrese, RTA CEO and General Manager. “The trolleys will operate on a 10-minute frequency from Prospect Avenue to the loop in front of the Great Lakes Science Center, connecting both festivals.” Click here for a map of the trolley route.

After leaving the Great Lakes Science Center, the trolley will stop at these intersections, both northbound and southbound:

  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
  • East Ninth Street at Lakeside Avenue
  • East Ninth Street at St. Clair Avenue, by the Galleria
  • East Ninth Street at Superior Avenue
  • East Ninth Street at Euclid Avenue
  • East Ninth Street at Prospect Avenue, near the Ingenuity Festival

“As gas costs hover near the $3 per gallon mark, RTA remains your most effective transportation alternative,” Calabrese says. “Many downtown streets will be closed, or have limited access, because of construction.”

The Tall Ships will be at the Cleveland Harborfest at North Coast Harbor from July 12-16. Opening ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Voinovich Park. Tours will be given from 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. July 13-16. To get there:

From July 13-16, the Ingenuity Festival of Art and Technology will be centered at Prospect Avenue and East Fourth Street. To get there:

  • Park free in one of 7,000 spots at rail stations.
  • Buy a $3.50 All-Day Pass.
  • Ride any rail line to Tower City.
  • Walk east on Prospect Avenue for about five minutes.
