CLEVELAND – Just in time for your summer fun, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is adding to its popular Red Line rail service.

Beginning Friday, May 22 – the start of the Memorial Day weekend – Red Line trains will operate every 15 minutes every evening, seven-days-a-week, all summer long.

" RTA connects the dots to all Cleveland has to offer. We want to accommodate sports fans and anyone coming Downtown this summer to any of the many terrific events and venues," said Joe Calabrese, RTA CEO and General Manager.

This added service is an improvement in frequency from the usual 30 minutes that was available on evenings and weekends. The Red Line rush-hour service will be every 10 minutes between Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the Louis Stokes Station at Windermere.

"Customers rely on RTA to take them where they want to be. With 8,000 free parking spaces at our Rapid stations and Park-N-Ride lots, RTA makes it easy to get Downtown quickly and easily," Calabrese said. The new Red Line timetable is on-line.

In addition, RTA will offer extended service Memorial Day weekend, with the Waterfront Line operating until midnight on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the Marc’s Great American Rib Cook Off, Jacob’s Pavillion at Nautica.

The Blue/Green Line retains its current schedule, operating every 15 or 30 minutes, depending on locations.

The Red Line schedule change coincides with other service changes that begin May 24. They include minor modifications to several routes. All changes are posted on-line for 20 bus routes and the Cleveland State Line.

Most notable: five changes accommodate construction around Public Square. Another change helps RTA adapt to the new intersection configuration of Chagrin Boulevard and Warrensville Center Road.
Spring service change details are on-line.
