Brady's K-9 Fund meets RTA police dogs

Mar 29, 2019

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, members of the RTA K-9 unit met with a family at Transit Police Headquarters. This family includes a special boy named, Brady. He has an organization called Brady's K-9 Fund

Brady feels all K-9 Officers should be protected by a ballistic/stab proof vest, after all they are protecting us! Typically they are front line into danger so a protective vest is crucial. Brady donates the Street Fighter vest made by Line Of Fire Defence (LOF). These vests are top of the line and ideal for working dogs. They allow the dog to wear their vest the entire shift and during trading sessions. each vest is custom fit for each dog. The vest protects all the crucial organs but is not big like traditional vests that may overheat the hard working dog!

Brady and his family had the opportunity to speak with K-9 handlers Officers Jaram, Kopp, and Harmon about his organization. Officer Harmon did a pursuit/ bite suit demonstration with his dog, Kubo. Kubo is RTA's only dual-purpose K-9, with training in explosive odor detection, patrol, tracking and aggression, and building and area search.

There is currently a waitlist for vests, and RTA is looking into adding Kubo to the list to receive one. To learn more about Brady's K-9 Fund, visit their facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/Bradyk9fund/
