The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is honoring Hispanic Heritage month with custom special bus stop signs on the #45 bus route.
Twenty-two (22) bus stop signs along the Clark & Fulton route will be individually decorated with flags that comprise the Hispanic/Latinx diaspora. "Clark-Fulton neighborhood has the largest and most diverse Hispanic population in our service area,” said GCRTA Schedule Analyst, Jorge Lozada. “Fulton Road provides excellent transit service seven days a week and is a corridor to connect to that community, my community," stated Lozada.
In addition to the bus stop signs, a bus shelter along the route at Fulton & Marvin will feature a banner graphic that incorporates 22 country flags, and the W.25th – Ohio City Station will show case a unique Hispanic Heritage Month decal at the station’s entrance.

Based on 2020 census data, Hispanics make up just over 6% of the population in Cuyahoga County, and 3% of the GCRTA’s workforce is Hispanic. “As a public agency, we employ and serve a diverse population. We seek to promote and support diversity and inclusion across all areas of GCRTA and the communities we serve”, said General Manager, Chief Executive Officer India Birdsong Terry.
“In March, I signed the Hispanic Pledge on behalf of the GCRTA as a commitment to hire, promote, retain, and develop Hispanic employees. In order to honor that commitment, our agency remains actively engaged in grooming the next generation of Hispanic talent in transit, and for us, that support starts at home. We are pleased to lift up our local champions of diversity, through our relationships with established advocacy groups such as Latinos in Transit (LIT).”

“As a LIT Board Member, my mission is to promote the advancement and development of Latinos and other minorities in transportation through education, mentoring and networking opportunities,” added Feliciano.
“We are pleased to have representation from GCRTA in these essential conversations, including participation at the national LIT board level,” added Birdsong Terry.
