Aug. 14, 2016: These service changes take effect to balance the budget

Jun 10, 2016

CLEVELAND -- After 16 public hearings, hundreds of comments, and input from the Board of Trustees, and community and business leaders, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has developed a list of service changes that will help balance the 2016 operating budget.

The comprehensive community involvement program helped RTA staff refine the original proposals.

"Our customers spoke, and we listened," said RTA General Manager Joe Calabrese. "Our goal was to overcome a projected $7 million budget shortfall while trying to satisfy the needs our customers. I think we've done that."

Earlier this week, the RTA Board approved fare increases that are expected to generate an additional $3.5 million in revenue.

Future dates

Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 -- Fare increases and bus service changes take effect.

September -- Rail service changes take effect.
