CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will operate overnight rail service to accommodate additional customers planning to celebrate on Public Square New Year's Eve festivities this year.

RTA will provide continuous service on the Blue, Green and Red Lines all night long on Dec. 31, through the morning hours of Jan. 1 and continuing all day on New Year's Day. Normally, trains stop running around 12:30 a.m. and resume service before 4 a.m. for nightly maintenance.

That means Red, Blue and Green Line Rapids will operate from the beginning of service on Dec 31 until the end of service Jan 1. The Waterfront Line will not operate overnight.

RTA oficials hope the increased service will encourage people to use public transportation for their New Year's Eve activities throughout RTA's service area, especially to downtown events, and those in Ohio City and Lakewood.

RTA will operate all night, and customers coming to the Public Square celebration on all train lines will exit at Tower City stop to reach the event. However, the rest of Tower City Center will close at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. Transit Police officers will be on hand to help customers navigate through Tower City.

All-Day Pass: $5.Park for free in RTA parking lots and enjoy responsibly.

RTA provides quality, economic and safe public transportation via rail, bus and Paratransit throughout Cuyahoga County. Real-time information is available for all buses and trains. Check www.riderta.com or call the RTAnswerline at 216-621-9500.
