CLEVELAND – The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) and the City of Cleveland are collaborating to increase interest in and access to COVID-19 vaccines. RTA has designed a specially wrapped bus to be retrofitted to serve as a mobile vaccine clinic, and will be traveling to multiple locations throughout the City of Cleveland over the next several weeks.
RTA’s first stop, and the public’s first chance to receive a vaccine on the RTA mobile clinic, will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27 on Public Square. A City Club Forum featuring RTA’s CEO and General Manager, India Birdsong, is also scheduled at that time. Appointments will not be necessary; walk-ins are welcome.
“RTA is proud to partner with the City of Cleveland on this important initiative,” said Ms. Birdsong. “RTA’s mission is to connect the community, and our role in this effort demonstrates the critical nature of that mission. We are eager to do our part to make it as easy as possible to remove any access barriers to anyone who wants to get the vaccine,” Ms. Birdsong said.
Ms. Birdsong’s remarks at The City Club Forum will focus on the future of RTA and the importance of initiatives such as this.

Call center hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm.
“The mobile clinic will target neighborhoods where vaccination rates are low and cases are disproportionately high,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “We want everyone in our community to be safe from COVID-19 and one of the most effective tools we have is vaccination. I got my COVID-19 vaccination, and I urge you to get yours.”
Although this specific initiative is targeted to higher risk neighborhoods, the Cleveland Department of Public Health encourages everyone to be vaccinated
All residents 12 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine on the mobile clinic. Anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian in order to receive the vaccine.
This program is made possible through a generous grant from The Ohio Department of Transportation and their “Ride to Community Immunity” initiative.
