Webmaster's Corner

We've had a lot of success with our online presence since re-launching rideRTA.com in April of 2013. Our usage numbers continue to grow, especially our mobile audience. The "average" user (if there is such a thing) revisits our site five times per month, viewing about six pages every time they visit.

We've attracted visitors from around the country, and around the world. Not only do we serve the needs of everyday riders looking for schedule and real-time information and service updates, but we also provide financial information for our many funding partners (that includes YOU, taxpayers), special event information for out of-of-town visitors, and historical information for the "transit geeks" among us.

This doesn't mean we stop here, pat ourselves on the back, and say, "we're done". Far from it. We know you have choices to make when it comes to transportation, and we're working every day to make our online presence more informative, more useful, and more of what you want to see. As an example, we've just launched a re-working of our online timetables that gives you, the user, the ability to customize the displayed information as you see fit.

This is just the start of our improvements. We continue to enhance the back-end Web site operations, those pieces you don't see, to ensure that everything responds as quickly as possible and adapts to the loads encountered during special events.

Most importantly, we want to hear from you -- what do you want to get out of our Web site? Is there information we're not providing? Are there devices you're using that don't give you an ideal experience? Is there something you've seen another transit system do online, and thought to yourself, "why doesn't RTA do that"? Let us know at webmaster@gcrta.org. We can't promise the world, but we'll see what we can do.
