How to Get Started

New to the app? Follow the step-by-step guide to booking and tracking your rides.

Step 1 Download the App
Starting October 5, 2026, search for "GCRTA Paratransit App" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. It is completely free.
Step 2 Sign In
Enter your Client ID and your Password. (Your starting password is your Client ID).
Step 3 Plan Your Travel
Tap the Calendar (+) button on your screen to book your ride.

Important Travel Rules to Remember

Advance Booking: You can book trips up to 3 days in advance. Next-day trips must be booked before 4:30 PM the day before. Same-day bookings are not available in the app.
Paying Your Fare: Fares are $2.75 for riders and companions, PCAs ride free. The app does not collect fares - please continue to pay using your normal payment method, such as cash, paper passes, digital tickets (EZfare), or GCRTA Smartcard.

Phone Reservations are Still Available: You do not have to use the app. If you prefer to call our scheduling office, you can always call us at (216) 621-9500, every day (Sunday through Saturday) 7:00 am through 4:30 pm.

Paratransit App FAQs

What is the new Paratransit App?

It is a free app for your smartphone or tablet. It lets you book, track, and cancel your rides without having to call our office.

Where do I get the app?

Starting October 5, 2026, download it for free from the Apple App Store (for iPhone) or the Google Play Store (for Android) by searching for "GCRTA Paratransit App".

How do I log in?

Open the app and type in your Client ID and your Password. Your starting password is your Client ID unless you change it.

Who can use this app?

Any registered GCRTA Paratransit rider with an active Client ID. Family members and Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) can also help manage trips using the rider's login information.

Can I book a ride at night when the office is closed?

Yes, but please plan ahead. You can book trips up to 3 days in advance. If our office is closed for the night, you can book for 2 or 3 days out, but you cannot book for the very next day. Next-day trips must always be booked before 4:30 PM the day before. Same-day bookings are not available in the app.

Can I cancel a scheduled ride at night?

Yes! You can cancel any scheduled trip directly in the app at any time, 24/7.

How do I cancel a ride?

Open the app, tap on your scheduled trip, scroll to the bottom, and tap "Cancel Trip".

Do I have to type my address every time?

No. The app saves your past trips and favorite spots so you can rebook with a quick tap.

Can I see my past rides?

Yes. Tap the "Past Trips" button at the bottom right of your screen to review completed rides.

Can a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) or Companion ride with me?

Yes. When booking, you can add 1 approved PCA and 1 companion under the passenger step.

How do I know when my vehicle is close?

When your vehicle is on its way, an alert banner will appear at the top of your app screen telling you how many minutes away it is (for example: "Your ride arrives in 4 minutes").

Will the app send me a pop-up text/push notification if the app is closed?

No. You must open the app to see the top arrival banner and check your ride status.

Can I watch my vehicle move?

Yes! Tap "Trip details" or "Show on map" to see your pickup pin and watch the vehicle icon move in real-time.

How do I know I am getting into the right vehicle?

Once a driver is assigned, open your trip details to see your driver’s badge number, and vehicle number. Drivers will verify using your Paratransit ID.

How do I share special pickup needs?

When you book, select your needed mobility equipment (like a cane, walker, wheelchair, or service animal). Saved locations will also keep your stored pickup notes and phone numbers.

Do I have to use the app?

No. The app is an optional choice. You can still call our scheduling line at (216) 621-9500 or use our online scheduling website. No current services are going away.

Can I pay my fare inside the app?

No. The app is only for booking, checking, and canceling rides. Please continue to pay using your normal payment method, such as the EZfare, cash, or prepurchase tickets, or GCRTA Smartcard.

How much is the fare?

Regular fare is $2.75 (single ride), $7.00 (all-day) for riders and guests. Registered Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) ride for free.

What should I do if I need help logging in?

If you forgot your password, in the App: tap "Forgot your password?" on the login screen.
To speak with a scheduler, call (216) 621-9500 daily between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM.
For account help, contact Paratransit Management.
To share feedback, use the Feedback link in the app menu or visit feedback.gcrta.org.

Why can't I book a ride for today in the app?

The app is designed for advance planning only. Trips must be scheduled at least one day ahead before the 4:30 PM cutoff.

How many days in advance can I schedule my ride?

You can book rides up to 3 calendar days in advance directly in the app.

Can I schedule recurring or subscription rides in the app?

No. The app is for single trips. To manage standing subscription trips, please call the scheduling office directly at (216) 621-9500.

Why doesn't my requested pickup time show up?

The app checks your schedule in real time and will not show times that conflict or overlap with trips you already have booked.

Why does the booking process have multiple steps?

The app asks for the exact same information a scheduler asks for over the phone (such as mobility aids and PCA needs) to make sure the right vehicle and space are assigned to you.

Can I change my home or work address inside the app?

No. You can view your contact information under "My profile," but to officially change your primary home address on file, you must contact the Paratransit office.

What should I do if I get an error saying my account is inactive or suspended?

If you see an account status message, please call the ADA office at (216) 621-9500 to check your eligibility status.

Can I use the app if I am a caregiver or booking for a family member?

Yes. Caregivers and relatives can log in using the rider's Client ID and password to schedule and track trips on their behalf.

Why is the screen taking a moment to load when I tap "Confirm"?

The app connects directly to our live scheduling database to reserve your specific space and vehicle route in real time.

How do I make sure my booking actually went through?

Stay on the screen until you see the green checkmark icon, your Booking ID number, and the "Your trip is scheduled successfully" confirmation message.

Trips that are not confirmed will automatically be cancelled and display the status code "Unconfirmed App – Cancelled".

What happens if my ride is delayed?

You can open your trip details at any time to check the live map view and updated estimated pickup time.
