Winter Weather Plans

 Winter Weather Plans

Based on the Jan. 24-26, 2026 forecast from the National Weather Service, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) will activate our Winterization Plan to maintain service.

GCRTA snow trains will operate on the Red, Blue and Green Lines as needed to clear tracks of snow, also preventing ice buildup on the overhead lines.  Additionally, GCRTA snowplows will clear and salt GCRTA facilities, parking lots and sidewalks. (NOTE: Due to the current shortage of rock salt, not every parking lot will be salted, but they will be plowed.)

Expect the possibility of bus and rail delays as severely cold temperatures accompanied by heavy snowfall will have an impact on service. For information on service interruptions as they happen, GCRTA advises the use of TransitApp and this web page.

GCRTA believes in Connecting the Community and recognizes that it is our responsibility to do it safely, and to the best of our ability every day.
