Take GCRTA To The Guardians Home Opener Ballgame

Mar 30, 2026

The Cleveland Guardians Home Opener is set for Friday, April 3, 2026, against the Chicago Cubs. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) offers the most affordable, accessible, and direct transportation to this special game that begins the Guardians 2026 home season.

Taking GCRTA allows you to avoid downtown traffic and expensive parking fees.

Some home opener game tips to make your day a winner:

•    Ride the Rapid to the Tower City Station and take the Walkway to Rocket Arena. From there, it’s a short walk outside to Progressive Field. The Walkway  will open 4 hours prior to the start of the home opener game.
•    Trains will leave frequently throughout the day. Check rideRTA.com and Transit App for scheduled departure and arrival times. Parking is free at all stations.
•    $5 All-day passes are available by contactless payment, Google Pay, or Apple at the Tower City station (Red, Blue and Green Lines).
•    You can also purchase a one-way fare ($2.50) or an All-Day pass ($5.00) at a Ticket Vending Machine or on the GCRTA EZfare mobile ticketing app.
•    You can also ride the HealthLine or any downtown-bound bus to the Public Square area and then make your way to the Walkway or Progressive Field from there.
•    Plan ahead & leave early. Large crowds are expected so give yourself plenty of time to arrive safely.

Please visit www.riderta.com to plan your trip or for details on routes and scheduled departure times and check the RTA Transit App for real-time arrivals.  If you haven’t already, downloading the RTA Transit App is easy, just go to www.transitapp.com and download to your Apple or Android device.

Because of Opening Day festivities, fans are asked to be in their seats at Progressive Field an hour before the game begins. The home opener first pitch is at 4:10 p.m.
